Slay with Samples

Make up and skincare stores don't advertise that you can get free samples! I live for free samples. Don't spend an arm and a leg on a product if you are still on the fence about it. Seriously, how can you know that $40 primer is going to work by only trying it on your hand and smelling it. Of course its probably going to feel great initally and smell fantastic! Will it last all day and keep your make up in place? Trust me, try it before you buy it.

This is why I love Sephora. You can bring the product to one of the sales consultants and ask them for a sample. Without hesitation they will get you a sample of it for free. The sample size will usually last you a week, so that is plenty of time to decide if you like it!

Foundation color matching success: Try some of the foundation in the store, however stop! Get a sample before you buy and wear it all day and see how it holds up. See it in different lighting, not just the store lighting. This is the biggest tip I can give. Too many times I've wasted money on a foundation that was just not the right color. Foundation will look great in the store and then you get outside in that natural light and your face is just separate from your neck. Now you are stuck with this expensive foundation that doesn't match your skin. The other great thing about Sephora is that they will let you return your products within 30 days if you do not like it. Obviously if you have used half of the bottle they may give you the death stare, so don't take advantage of this option too many times. Ulta Beauty and Mac also let you return products. All within reason if you have tried it a couple times and have barely used it.

Another one of my favorite ways to try it before you buy it is to subscibe to a beauty box! I love Play! By Sephora. It is $10.70 a month and you will get decent sized samples of all of your favorites.
